LXC
LXC (Linux Containers) is an operating-system-level virtualization method for running multiple isolated Linux systems on a control host using a single Linux kernel.
LXD is system container manager, basically an alternative to LXC's tools, not a “rewrite of LXC, in fact it's building on top of LXC to provide a new, better user experience.
Create a container but do not start it
Launch a new container of a particular release of an image
Make your LXD containers get IP addresses from your LAN using macvlan
