Ubuntu - tmux - Using tmux - Create a Window

A Window is like a Virtual Desktop.

Each Virtual Desktop can contain its own screen or applications.


<CTRL-b> c

NOTE: The new window will be shown on the status bar at the bottom of tmux.

  • The active window will have a * symbol next to it.

NOTE: To change to a different window:

<CTRL-b> 1
  • where 1 is the number of the Window to change to.
    • Check the bottom status bar of tmux to see what Windows numbers are available.

NOTE: To quit a specific window:

Select the specific Window to quit.

<CTRL-b> x
  • and confirm.
