Ubuntu - GPU - Drivers - Get the currently used graphics driver

Using lspci

lspci -k | grep -A 3 -E "(VGA|3D)"

returns: 

0c:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Device 744c (rev c8)
	Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device 240e
	Kernel driver in use: amdgpu
	Kernel modules: amdgpu

NOTE: This shows that the kernel driver is amdgpu.

  • This indicates an AMD GPU.

Using lshw

sudo lshw -c video

returns:

Check the kernel modules

Determine the PCI Bus

lspci | grep -i vga

returns:

NOTE: This shows the unique PCI Bus address of 0c:00.0.

Use the PCI Bus to check what kernel modules are being used
